Retro Food Pass Assembly (1 SF Food Pass, 1 SF Box)
*Recommended retrofitting: 1 SF Box per 15-20 SF Food Pass

Violent inmates will sometimes use any means to attack correctional officers. This can make the delivering of meals or correspondence a danger to staff and even life threatening. Physical attacks, bodily fluid attacks and even the airborne transfer of diseases are a daily occupational hazard for many officers. The SF Food Pass and SF Box is designed to protect the officer and maintain a safe transfer of meals or materials and prevent any direct contact between the inmate and staff.

The SF Box is made of 1/8" aluminum and locks onto two hat section tracks above and below the sliding food pass. The device itself weighs only 15 pounds and is easily transported. The surfaces are powdercoated for easy cleaning and all joints are TIG welded to prevent any cracks or crevices.

The system consists of a foodpass opening of approximately 5" x 15" in a sliding door. The door is received by a splash resistant receiver channel.

Above and below the food pass opening, and extending across most of the width of the door are two hat sections tracks. The slots created by the hat sections which face the opening, provide a sliding track for a 10 gauge steel food pass door. The top and bottom tracks provide a mounting location for the feeding device, referred to here as the SF Box.

The SF Box, which is made of 1/8" aluminum (stainless optional), is fastened to the tracks using a cam action device. The feeder hangs on the top track and then is latched into the bottom track. Once it is attached, the sliding door can be opened by releasing the thumb catch, which is hidden in the handle of the sliding door. There is a provision for a padlock which attaches to the same tab as the thumb catch.

The sliding door is flanged at its leading edge, which prevents it from opening too far. The tab for the thumb catch and padlock, which is welded to the door after installation of the sliding foodpass door, prevents it from being removed in the other direction.
A door is provided at the back of the SF Box, can be opened to slide the tray, or second tray into the SF Box.

Removal of the SF Box from the door is accomplished in the reverse order. The sliding door is
slid closed and latched, then the cam handle is raised, releasing the lower clamp, and the device is lifted off the tracks. It is then attached to the next door. As designed, the SF Box is not handed.

All parts of the SF Box are powder coated or stainless and TIG welded for easy cleaning.
